Voltage Guide

We know there’s lots of choice when it comes to buying an electric car for your little one. Here at Kids Electric Car Supermarket we want to make sure you make the best choice and one of the big choices is what power car to purchase.

When we talk about the ‘power’ of the car we are referring to how big the battery and the size/efficiency of the motor. It’s measured in volts as batteries and motors are all rated in a category measured in volts. 6v is the smallest category that is commonly found and is often a good starting point for a first car. Different factors need to be taken into consideration including the child’s age, where the vehicle will be driven and how much experience the driver has.

Take a look at the following table for recommendations in those areas. Please remember however that the decision should always be made on a case by case basis and the following is a guide only.

Note that often kids cars with 24v batteries use a 12v motor so you can expect the performance of a 12v car but with extended battery life. This is also sometimes the case with 36v cars, so it’s worth checking the details of a car before purchase.
